Hayden Vanguard LectureshipThe Hayden Vanguard Award, sponsored by CAE, recognizes cutting edge innovation that will have a high impact on the field of simulation. If you have a unique technique, tool, concept, or research study that would advance the field of healthcare simulation, apply for the opportunity to share your innovation at the next INACSL annual conference. The recipient of the 2024 Hayden Vanguard Lectureship will receive a commemorative award presented at INACSL24, June 12-15, 2024 in Raleigh, North Carolina. They will present a one-hour address about their innovation during the conference. They will receive registration and funding for hotel, travel (up to $1,500), and a speaker honorarium for INACSL24. What is innovation?Applicants should be able to speak to and demonstrate a new idea, product, or method that can be applied to simulation. It should have high potential for mass utilization by other simulationists and integration into simulation programs. Ideal applications will demonstrate a potential for strong impact, including statistically significant results. SubmissionsSubmissions for the 2024 Hayden Vanguard Lectureship are now open. Applicants are asked to submit a CV of no more than three (3) pages and a five (5) minute Vision Video detailing an innovative technique, tool, concept, or scholarly product in simulation. Submit an ApplicationAwardees must demonstrate the ability to present their ideas well to a large audience. Their presentation should be engaging and inspire attendees as they consider ways to innovate in their areas of research and/or simulation work. Selection of the awardee is made by a panel consisting INACSL and CAE representatives.
History As a master’s prepared nurse researcher, Jennifer Hayden completed one of the largest and most meaningful nursing education studies ever devised – the National Council of State Boards of Nursing: National Simulation Study. Her scholarship contributed to both evidence based practice and policy for nursing education and simulation. In honor of Jennifer’s work and to commemorate her legacy, INACSL created the Hayden Vanguard Lectureship, sponsored by CAE Healthcare. The lectureship is awarded annually to an INACSL member whose innovation may move simulation forward in a meaningful way through research, program, evaluation, or a similar scholarly product.
