December Fireside Chat: Advancing Prebriefing Practice: Findings and Tools from a Systematic Review of the INACSL Standard

December 8, 2025 | 1 p.m. EST | 12 p.m. CT

Host: Membership Committee | Guest:  Standards Committee

The INACSL Standards Committee recently conducted a systematic review of the Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice®, focusing on Prebriefing—an essential component of simulation-based learning. The review highlighted ongoing inconsistencies in how educators define, time, and implement the preparation and briefing phases of Prebriefing, which are vital for promoting learner readiness and psychological safety.

This session presents key findings from the review and introduces new evidence-based tools, including preparation and briefing checklists, to help simulation programs apply the Prebriefing standard more clearly and consistently.

Learning Objectives:

  • Examine findings from the INACSL systematic review on the Prebriefing standard.
  • Identify current gaps and inconsistencies in Prebriefing practices.
  • Explore new checklist tools to support standardized, high-quality Prebriefing implementation.
