Swiss Conference on Standardized Patients and Simulation in Healthcare (SPSIM)
Wednesday, August 31, 2022 to Friday, September 02, 2022
Category: Industry Events

We are pleased to announce the next Swiss Conference on Standardized Patients and Simulation in Healthcare (SPSIM) which will take place from 31 August to 2 September 2022 and will be held by the University of Health Sciences Lausanne (HESAV), at the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV).

SPSIM is a bi-annual event that became one of the major conferences on simulation in Europe. This year, the slogan is «Back to the future – From digital revolution to evolution». It will acknowledge the innovative capacities of healthcare education institutions, aiming to distil lessons for the future beyond health crisis.

The majority of presentations and workshops will be held in English and the main topics will be:

  • Standardized Patients in exceptional circumstances: This session focuses on SP and their programs in a digital world, pandemic workarounds that are here to stay and how SP are not tools to use but experts to employ.
  • Virtual reality is real: Do virtual, augmented, and extended reality have a place in routine simulation-based education? This session explores how VR/AR/ER have advanced beyond pilots and trials and are here to stay.
  • Serious Games for Health: Why should we be using them more, why aren’t we already, and how would we be doing that anyway? A serious session to be enjoyed.
  • Cost efficiency of simulations: Given the often expensive nature of simulation, this session raises the question whether we are making the most of our simulations, and if not, what we should be doing differently.

Aiming at a large population of healthcare professionals, the conference is a collaboration between the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland, the University of Health Sciences Lausanne (HESAV), the Bern University of Applied Sciences - Health Section, the Berner Bildungszentrum Pflege, and the Institut für Medizinische Lehre (Institute of Medical Education) at the University of Bern.

We invite you to submit your abstract on SPSIM’s website, should you wish to participate in the event. Abstract submissions will be open until May 13th, 2022.
